the editing in the movie was shoddy, and I often felt like it kept cutting to the next scene without finishing up the scene it was already on. So the joker crashes a party, throws Rachel Dawes out of a building, then when Batman rescues her, poof, we're onto the next scene. I guess the joker must have just bid everybody adieu and politely bowed out of the party at that point? that's the only one I can think of offhand, but I remember on a couple occasions thinking to myself....wow this editing kind of sucks. maybe they will release a director's cut, or something. I would be interested in checking that out instead.
gotham...what can I say. Probably my biggest complaint is that gotham didn't look or feel like gotham at all. In fact it seemed like a vastly different city than the gotham in batman begins. in fact it looks just like a bright, sunny chicago. hmmm. long considered to be almost a character in and of itself, there was not a single distinctive thing about this city. I found this unnerving all the way through.
I never read about dent's transformation in the comics, so I don't know how it happens, but here we have him transforming from a do gooder to instant homicidal maniac practially overnight. the transformation should have happened much earlier in the movie and his emotional angst should have been elaborated on.
although I would agree that heath ledger truly was the best part of the movie. I laughed at more than a couple of his lines, I think he did a good job of balancing psychotic/funny. I was irritated that they didn't at least give us a hint as to what his history was though...it just seemed lazy to do that to such a compelling central character.
anyway, what started me off on this was checking out the movie on imdb...man people are FROTHING AT THE MOUTH over this. far more so than batman begins, and I think it's a little disproportionate to how good the movie actually was. there are a lot of factors that could have caused this though - heath's death, the massive viral marketing campaign that has been hyping the shit out of this movie, and of course anything with bale in it is going to get attention.
I'd give it a 6.5, whereas the first one was an 8 or 9 in my opinion.

I am SO IN LOVE with brazilian girls right now. I started off only vaguely liking a couple of their songs, and the more I listened to them the more I realized how awesome they are. The frontwoman is my biggest gay crush of all time, she's this beautiful intelligent worldly woman who sings in like 6 different languages. I might have mentioned something about them a while back, but the more I listen the greater my fandom becomes.
I can't embed, which is unfortunate, but this is the best live footage of them on youtube since their one music video kind of sucks, oh well they look like they rule live anyway...
this is actually their old stuff but it's hard to find footage of them on youtube...
lazy lover
don't stop

I came into some surprise money today, a lot of it actually.
I thought this week was going to SUCK BALLS but it's fucking happening now.

I guess you can say I'm pretty proud to count Charlize as a fellow ex-South African.

OK I WILL STOP POSTING NOW.

This cracked me the fuck up a second ago...

sorry CP, but it's funny.

I'm excited for so many things right now I constantly have to resist the urge to fucking SCREAM. Am I easily amused? I don't think so, I'm just good at making the best of my current situation.
I also have a gay crush on this girl:

Yow!
Also, even the shitty, cel-phone camera footage from the current leg of the radiohead tour looks AMAZING. seriously. I am going to have to wear depends to the show.

I'm not impressed with decadent things. You have a fully featured movie theater in your basement? Great. Some people don't have food.
Hey guise, I'm gonna present this totally strong opinion with nothing to back it up and if anybody argues against it I'm going to call them an idiot, freeze the thread, then delete all their comments.
Good thing I still had the browser tab open and was able to screencap this little gem.

FYI I am not a PETA fanatic. I just think that some, yes some, of their points are valid. That shouldn't be such a hard concept to grasp, surely?
What an apt title he picked for his journal.

omg watch @ 2:21
the question was what was special about the release of radiohead's last album. and LILLY FUCKING ALLEN responds "not the music". she then goes on to say that letting fans pay what they want for the album "devalues" music.
I mean, this is wrong on multiple, multiple levels.
1: Lilly Allen's music is, at best, one notch above nursery rhymes and she can't even play a single instrument.
2: The only thing it "devalues" is the bank account of rich record label CEOs. most music artist revenue comes from live performances and since when is the fucking value of music determined by how much people pay for it? does this mean really good music should be unaffordable to the working class?
lilly, the next time you decide to give your unsolicited and completely ignorant opinion on artists that have more talent in their pinky finger than you have in your entire everything, i suggest you do this:

oh yes I went there.
on a lighter note, I found this very amusing:

I sometimes think about celebrity and I don't think this obsession with famous people is anything new at all. The world's a popularity contest and there will always be people in the center of it all.
And I can't even begin to imagine what a mindfuck ego trip it must be to know that people would pay exorbitant amounts of money for pictures of you doing stuff like going to the gas station, or eating. wow.
Also have you noticed that in most cases, the less actual talent said celebrity has, the more exposure they get? The paparazzi is nothing but a payola exposure service for celebrities to be seen and get the attention they crave. I don't feel sorry for them. Wah wah, shoulda thought about that before you showed the world your naked cooch as you were climbing out of that limo yesterday, you nasty tart. lol.
I'm going through a livejournal-is-kinda-lame phase. But I think it's waning.

I was cutting the grass and had to move a plastic water drainage piece from one of the gutters on the corner of the house. I picked it up and was about to put it down when I saw a gigantic spider a mere inch away from my hand. I got a fright and threw the piece down, and what happened was the spider ended up falling out first, the piece landed on top of it and immediately crushed it.
I was afraid it would bite me, but with a careless flick of my wrist I killed it.

Irrational pet peeve:
When people walk around whistling, for no apparent reason. It drives nails into my skull.

SFW but you will probably get strange looks.
Well the past two weeks have all been leading up to this.
Took my citizenship test today and passed obv. One of the questions was "Who is the current president of the US?". If you don't know that you deserve no less than the death sentence.
Came out of the building and realized I forgot to put money in the meter. The coins were still in my pocket. $20 later...
Finals are due tonight. My project turned out ok, I did pour a lot of hours into it those. I worked on it longer than I've worked on probably any other project I've had.
This weekend I'm gonna tear some shit up.
That's all.

Personal wtf:
I was eating at aTaco Bell ~fine Mexican eatery~ a couple minutes ago, when one of the staff members, a guy who looked to be in about his 30s and not too crazy or anything asks me how I'm doing. So I reply "I'm good, thanks". He starts to talk about how the weather is disappointing up here, to which I agree.
And then he says this: "My aunt turned the whole state of Georgia around. I wish she would come up here." and promptly walks off.
I don't get it.
